Do all emergency clinics treat exotic pets?

A bright clinic reception with a curved wooden counter, pendant lights and plants.

The answer

No. Many emergency clinics focus on dogs and cats, and some do not see birds, reptiles, rabbits or small mammals. If you keep an exotic pet, find out in advance which clinics accept it and save their details next to the other emergency numbers. Small pets often hide illness until it is serious, so knowing where to go matters. During a crisis, mention your species on the first call so that staff can tell you whether to come or to go elsewhere.
